How was your day? Mine was pretty intense. We had an exhibition for parents in kindergarten, and, as always, I put my whole soul into the preparation. I take my job seriously and strive for excellence.
I asked the children to draw their dreams for the exhibition. Their creations were amazing and so enthusiastic! Someone painted astronauts, others painted doctors, and one girl even created an entire bakery where she bakes pies for the city. Their work was amazing.
But one mother during the exhibition, furious that her son had painted a dragon, insisted that children should dream of something "real", for example, becoming a doctor or an engineer. The children were clearly upset. I tried to calm her down and explain that children's dreams are their personal space, but she wasn't in the mood to listen. Her voice got louder, which only increased the tension.
At the peak of the conflict, little Vanya went up to his mother, took her hand and said: "Mom, you also loved dragons when you were little; I saw your old drawings." Despite this, she brushed it off, rejecting the idea of supporting his work. Her focus was solely on making him "someone important."
I was shocked by her attitude. How can you neglect your child's feelings? Dreams are necessary for his development. It is important to teach him responsibility, but it is equally important to let him dream and believe in himself. After that incident, I couldn't stop thinking about how many adults had forgotten what it was like to be a child.
